New Years 2009
Gone are the days of partying hard and hangovers the next morning after a New Years Celebration! New Years now is pretty mild compared to when I used to live in Vegas, or even when we were in Portland. We now get together with family and enjoy appetizers, a few drinks, and each others company. We used to play games, but now with the kids, we don't get to actually sit down and be able to play anymore---maybe in a couple of years. Instead, the gals get to chat while the guys play pool and/or poker. The best part is having the kids stay up until midnight to celebrate with us! It's amazing how much energy they have---and their enthusiasm grows the closer it get's to 12:00 (last year they all actually stayed up until 3:00 a.m.!). This year we went to my sister's house in Herriman. My dad and step-mom were there as well as my 2 brothers and their girlfriends. The boys loved toasting each others glasses with their sparkling cider saying "Cheers!" and shouting "Happy New Year!". Once the 12:00 hour arrived, the adults somehow found comfort in the couch, while the boys were still running around like wild animals! Whew...when did I get so old?!?!
