Ghosts of Halloween Past

Breklyn gave me the idea to look back in my old pictures and post the boys past Halloween costumes. I had actually forgotten what Maddox was his second year. It's fun to look back and remember the fun that they had getting dressed up. There seems to be a theme with Parker and his animal costumes (he's a monkey this year!)---they're just so cozy and comfortable! I'll post some pictures of this year's costumes after trick or treating tomorrow. Yes, I actually have a costume for Kensley too (though she drowns in it!).

Kensley's first week

We've had a busy week here at the Vincent household. We're sure enjoying having Kensley around---especially mommy!! The boys have adjusted better than expected, and love their new baby sister. They have been so good helping with getting diapers, powder, burp rags, etc. Parker insists on letting Kensley hold his "snuckers" (favorite blanket), and Maddox loves to brush Kensley's hair (which she loves!). After the first few nights of Kensley getting up every hour or so, she has now got in a routine of sleeping 3-4 hrs. at a time! I feel more rested now than the last month or so of my pregnancy! Plus it helps to have daddy help with at least one night-time feeding! With the weather as nice as it's been, we've already enjoyed a walk to the park on Saturday, visiting with the neighborhood
on Sunday, and yesterday we all went outside to enjoy the last little bit of nice weather.

Hogle Zoo

We spent yesterday enjoying one of the last days of 70 degree weather of the year at the Hogle Zoo. I've been wanting to go for a while, but thought that I would just wait until the new baby was here since it's getting so hard to walk, but since she has yet to make her appearance, we decided to just go now while the weather was nice. Plus, it's the last outing of just the 4 of us. The boys' had a great time running around looking at all the animals. I was amazed at how active the tiger, cheetah, and other big cats were. Maddox's favorite was the cheetah, tiger, and wolf while Parker loved the monkeys the best! The weather was beautiful, and the walking wasn't too bad. I was hoping to bring on some labor. I did see the doctor today and he said I had progressed enough (3.5 cm, 70% effaced) to be induced tomorrow! Yah!!! I'll post pictures soon!

SNOW!?!?

It snowed here this past weekend! It seems like it was just winter so needless to say I wasn't too thrilled about it! Luckily the rest of the week looks great with plenty of sun and warmer temperatures----more like Fall. The boys though loved waking up to all the snow and could hardly wait to put all (poor dad...it takes forever!) their gear on. They made a snowman in the backyard complete with golf ball eyes of course, as well as snow-ball fights and eating the snow! Mom didn't partake in the festivities due to the fact that if I were to fall, I probably wouldn't be able to get back up. Instead I stayed inside the warm house watching and had the hot chocolate ready! Though it was fun, I still don't think I'm ready for another long winter!!

Scarecrow Festival

Last night we went to the Scarecrow Festival at Thanksgiving Point. Our church reserved the evening from 6-8:30 and though it was chilly, it turned out to be a great time to go (especially after seeing the weather forecast for this weekend!). The boys' had a great time going on all the various slides, riding the 'cow' train, and attempting the main event: the scary lizard haunted house (which neither of them wanted anything to do with!). I mainly just walked around as much as possible trying to initiate labor to start----with no such luck!

The Greatest Show on Earth

We took the boys to their first circus last weekend! They were both very excited about going since I had been showing them the video from the Barnum and Bailey web-site for the last week or so. Parker's favorite part I think was the big tub of popcorn in his lap, while Maddox enjoyed the motorcycle riders, elephant and tiger performances the best. The show was about 2 1/2 hours long and Parker did great the first half, but had a hard time paying attention for the second half (i.e. started kicking the poor ladies seat in from of us!), so I walked around and around (not an easy task at this point in my pregnancy!) the Energy Solution Arena with him instead. All in all, I would recommend going for anyone, but I think 4 is the perfect age for kids to go since Maddox was fascinated by everything going on! Scott and I both commented that it seems different than the circus we remember going to when we were little---much more of a production!
